5 things that will make your work, life and business succeed!

This week as I sit down to write this week’s post…I need to tell you where my inspiration for writing comes from, before I delve into this week’s article.

I usually think about me week that was and all of the cool things that happened within the week and I focus on some of the lessons learned. I then write about it and share it with you the reader!

Lucky for you this week had some good lessons…so you my friend are in for a treat this week!

As a business coach, facilitator and in my role as a coordinator for an entrepreneur program with the City of Toronto, I am blessed to meet and work with some great people.

The work I do helps others acheive their goals and dreams and that is quite exciting.

One of the key things that makes what I do successful is the importance of having a Vision and Mission.

I make it a personal mission to deliver the best start-up training program in the city! I want those that take the entrepreneur program we offer to really enjoy it and get the most from it while they are in our program.

The goal is for it to be transformational, Where we create a fun, positive learning environment and encourage those that take the program to keep striving and moving forward!

So, one thing for you to succeed is to have a mission and vision for what it is you are setting out to do. This can be for a job or work situation, a life goal or your business!

You must know the direction you want to go (your vision) for now and into the future, if you are going to get there! Without a vision, you will get lost, feel like you are adrift in the ocean or lost on a road without a map!

Your mission is the immediate goal, what do you want the outcome to be in the here and now. What is the purpose behind what you’re doing?

You can have a mission for anything you do. Be it a dinner party with friends, to a social goal, or a personal goal. Your mission is complete once you have accomplished that goal!

One rule for success is to have a vision, a view of where you want to be within the next 5 years and then rule number two is to have a mission, which answers the question of what do you want to have happen in the here and now?

The third key to success is to do what you can to self manage your vibe. What I mean by this is your happiness, your passion, your state of being is up to you to manage. Do what you need to do to keep it in a peak state.

Personally, I find my morning routine of meditating, doing a gratitude journal, writing down my affirmations, watching an inspirational message video from Darren Hardy (publisher of Success Magazine) and then doing at least 30-40 minutes of exercise each morning before work, helps me manage stress, has me in a happier mood and more even keeled!

What do you need to do to keep your personal state up, positive and more stress-free? It could be to read each day, meditate, walk, exercise, seek therapy to work through your problems. Whatever works for you, Do it and do it each day!

The fourth key to success is to put love into your work, your relationships, your business…when you put love into it. Your relationships become easier, your work more enjoyable, your life becomes positive.

This is love without conditions and expectations, look for the good in others, look for what they do that is loveable!

Give back to them what they give to you.

Put that sense of love into what you do and watch the results come. By the way, choose what and who you love carefully, if someone or something you do in your work, business and or life isn’t fun, or bringing you joy, then step back from it or them and just back off. Not everything you do in work, life or your business is fun and you won’t love everything you do, so, who can you delegate the tasks that are least desirable too?

In terms of people in your life look for win-win, mutally beneficial relationships. Hold your ground, have boundaries, but aim to acknowledge the good people in your life, offer to help, to be an ear, to make them laugh, to empower them.

For those that don’t show up that way, then keep a professional distance. Not everyone is your cup of tea, so to speak and you are not everyone’s cup of tea either!

The 5th key, is to have an attitude of gratitude. Take time each day to give thanks to the key things in your life.It could be someone smiled at you or the traffic to work was light, or you got a seat on the subway in the morning or Joe in accounting bought you a coffee!

Take time each day to think of the things you are happy for. Not everyday is going to be roses and chocolates, but find it in your heart to meditate on what you are happy about.

Yes, we all have problems and challenges, in this day and age, sometimes too many of these, but a good way to short circuit the pain that comes from our challenges is to think of what you are grateful for!

The list of 5 things includes:

1. Have a vision, know where it is you want to go in life…what is the destination

2. Create a mission for what you do in life, what is the outcome you want to see have happen!

3. Work on keeping your vibe high, You are in control of your own self-love, happiness and mood, You can be an asshole or choose to be cool with what is. So be cool!

4. Add a little love to your life. Passion, kindness, joy to others, a smile, a nice word, encouragement and compassion! Plus acknowledgement and appreciation

5. Have an attitude of gratitiude and watch your life change.

As I close this post off, I hope you practice these. Let me know what happens, how your life improves if you do take these on and in the meantime, have an amazing week!

Cheers/David
